Decorators revel in Johnstone's showpiece final
The decorating industry enjoyed its moment in the national spotlight recently as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy reached an unforgettable conclusion at Wembly. More than 900 painters and decorators were invited as guests of Johnstone's to see Bristol City defeat Walsall in the showpiece final.

They were part of a huge crowd, which at 72,315 was the second highest attendance in the nine seasons of Johnstone's sponsoring the tournament. Only the 2010 final between Southampton and Carlise United has had a larger crowd.

And, with live televsion coverage on Sky Sports on top of a bumper turn out, it was a day when not ony the Johnstone's brand, but also the decorating industry as a whole, was thrown into the spotlight.

Decorators were treated to full hospitality throughout the da, including a three course meal in the Bobby Moore Suite. The room was decked out with gold balloons to decorate Johnstone's 125th anniversary as a paint manufacturer.

The day was even more special for 14 Johnstone's Trade employees and two chrity auction winners, who got to play football on the hallowed Wembly turf just over an hour before kick off in the Johnstone's Sixes.

Connor Higgs, from Johnstone's selected charity partner When You Wish Upon A Star, had the honour of presenting the ball to match referee Mick Russell ahead of kick off.

Ben Wilde, Brand and Sponsorship Manager for Johnstone's said: "Once again, the final was a huge success and the perfect end to what has been a magnificent competition over seven months.

"Our customers have been integral to our success during the past 125 years so it's important to thank them for their support and occassions like this enable us to do that."
